46 performances & events in 2 spaces in “maker” collective on State St.

Rochester, NY (August 30, 2021) – MADE ON STATE (510 State Street) is a KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival venue for the first time this year, featuring nine different productions with 46 performances in two spaces from Tuesday, September 14 – Saturday, September 25.

“The Fringe approached us with the idea because they were inundated with artist submissions at the same time that several of their regular venues decided not to reopen in time for this year’s festival,” explains venue manager and Airigami Founder & Creative Director Larry Moss. “Everyone at MADE ON STATE thought it was a great way to raise our profile as well as be a part of something cool.”

World-renowned Airigami TM (“the fine art of folding air”) will have two shows: Airigami Experience: Build with Balloons, in which participants will create a signature, immersive balloon installation with Airigami artists (Sept.14-16 at 11 AM & 3 PM each day, $50); and Airigami Viewing and Photo Op (Sept. 17-19, noon – 5 PM each day, free).

The most expensive show ever to grace Rochester’s Fringe takes place at MADE ON STATE: Experiential Seated Dinners. These catered tasting dinners paired with artisan brewery beverages are designed by the venue’s resident event and interior designer, Erin McDonald, and will take place within an immersive balloon design created by Airigami (Tues., Sept. 21 & Thurs., Sept. 23 at 6 PM, $150).

Also in MADE ON STATE’s Fuse and Anchor space:

  • Stories for Little Ones: Sit for a spell and we’ll tell you a tale, perhaps about piggies, or maybe a whale. Nine performances, Sept. 17-19, $5.
  • Bedtime Stories: An evening of stories your mother never would have read – at least not to you – some spooky, some steamy. Five evening performances, Sept. 17-19, $15.

In MADE ON STATE’S The Commons:

  • Andrew Flory – Classical Guitar: A classical guitarist currently working on his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Eastman School of Music after receiving his Master’s degree in 2020 from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Sept. 18 at noon, Sept. 19 at 2 PM, & Sept. 24 at 8 PM, $5.
  • Fringin’ & Flagons Adventure and comedy await as the table-top role playing of Dungeons & Dragons and collaborative improvisational storytelling meet in a Fringe show like none before. Sept. 22 at 9 PM, Sept. 23 at 6 PM, Sept. 24 at 4 PM, & Sept. 25 at 7 PM, $13.
  • Not The Queen You Know: Classically trained singer/kazoo player Maya Ben-Meir and pianist Dan Pardo interpret some of the rock group’s lesser-known works that parallel Maya’s own struggle to recognize her power. Sept. 17 at 8 PM, Sept. 18 at 2 & 8 PM, & Sept. 25 at 4 & 9 PM, $15.
  • The World of Teaching Artists ROC: a variety show featuring sample performances and workshops suitable for schools, festivals, and learners of all ages with teaching artists that make up the collaborative known as Teaching Artists ROC. Sept 22 at 4, 5, 6 & 7PM, $5.
