Open House #2: Feb. 4, 12-4 PM
Rochester, NY (January 17, 2017) – Its first open house in November attracted more than 400 guests. Now, MADE ON STATE – Rochester’s new collective of creative entrepreneurs at 510 State Street – will hold its second, FREE open house on Saturday, February 4 from noon to 4 p.m. The public is invited to tour the 26,000-square-foot campus of individual creative businesses. In addition, they can view a screen-printing demo (MYDARNDEST STUDIO), a cyr wheel demo by PUSH Physical Theatre’s Avi Printz-Nadworny (SKILLHOARDER WORKSHOP), and an exhibition of Mark Logan’s photographs (Creativ Framing). Music will be provided by Rochester Ukulele Orchestra (12-2 p.m.) and Al Biles and Gen Jam (2:15-4 p.m.). Advance registration is encouraged, and the first 100 to do so at Eventbrite will receive a complimentary swag bag.
Since its Grand Opening in November with Airigami (Larry Moss & Kelly Cheatle, “the fine art of folding air”), Blue Toucan Studios (Chris Pallace & Kevin Serwacki, fairy doors), Creativ Framing & Design (Allison Nichols, custom framing), Fired Figments (Stephanie Krist, ceramics), MYDARNDEST STUDIO (Bill Klingensmith, branding & typography), SKILLHOARDER WORKSHOP (Jesse Hughson, fabricator/artist), A Gamer’s Nostalgia (video game arcade), Hive Creative, Kurvie Kulture (clothing boutique), Noodlehead Art Studio, and Rachael Rosenberg (fine art painting), MADE ON STATE has become fully occupied. Its list of professional creative businesses has expanded to include ForEverLoYalty (clothing), RECOM PHOTO (comic con & event photography), Diana Ptaszynski (jewelry & small ceramics), and HouseTwelve Media (video production).
In addition, construction to the shared spaces – including a kitchen; a large (rentable) event/exhibition space; and fully-accessible bathrooms – is complete. A new hallway connecting the two wings of the building is underway.
“From conceptualization to hands-on fabrication, MADE ON STATE is where creative things happen, and we want it to be a very public, welcoming place as well,” say Airigami’s Larry Moss and Kelly Cheatle, who were instrumental in launching the High Falls collaborative along with Webster Properties developer, Craig Webster.
“It’s a win/win for all of us,” says Webster. “I believe that MADE ON STATE will continue to grow as a strong neighborhood presence in addition to being a great thing for Rochester’s many, talented creative professionals.”
